Oaklee’s mom, Mary, took her kids to the TORUK – The First Flight: New Show from Cirque du Soleil at the United Center. Here’s her report.
TORUK – The First Flight: New Show from Cirque du Soleil
is a sensory journey into the imagination. Pleasantly heavy on the WOW factor and beautifully executed. It’s one of the true joys of parenthood to watch your kids loose themselves in the magic of imagination.
This production is based on the movie Avatar but you don’t need to see the movie to enjoy this show. With the addition of a narrator, the linear storyline was easy to follow for all audiences. The use of projections to create varied environments and locations was captivating. The stylized critters and flowing costumes are enchanting. Families will like the use of larger than life size puppets and kites to supplement the performer’s wondrous gymnastic feats!
Before you go: There is an app that you can download to participate in the interactive elements. My recommendation would be to do this at home before you get to the United Center. You can download it on the App Store or Google Play. It’s worth the time. The app was very a novel and fun part of the experience.
The show is running through Aug. 7, 2016 at the United Center in Chicago, IL
