Keeping Kids Safe this Holiday Season

Oaklee’s Guest Post by Laura Nikolovska, Program Director of Kids In Danger, a Chicago non-profit focused on improving children’s product safety.

The holidays are an exciting time for families. However, new toys and unfamiliar environments pose safety risks for young children that parents may not be aware of. Kids In Danger (KID) would like to offer some tips and guidelines for protecting your children this holiday season.

When shopping for toys…
  • Keep in mind “Best Toys for Kids” lists do not always take safety into consideration.

When traveling…
  • Make sure your baby has a safe place to sleep. KID warns against travel beds as they pose risks and are not covered by safety standards.
  • Check borrowed strollers, highchairs, and other products for recalls.
  • Watch for choking risks to young children during hectic present unwrapping.
