Halloween Hoopla at Lisle Park District
Lisle Park District has a festive line up of fall and Halloween themed excitement, adapted to fit state COVID regulations to ensure safety and fun is had by all.
Feeling creative? Enter our new Pumpkin Carving Contest! Kids and adults are invited to share their carving skills for a chance to win prizes. Carve your pumpkin anytime between October 1-25, and send a photo of your pumpkin, and one with you and your pumpkin to Erica at ewise@lisleparkdistrict.org. Our panel of experts will judge the photos, and winners will be chosen for 5 different ages groups and announced on November 6. $10 per entry – register now and send your photos by October 30.
On Saturday, October 3, the big screen will go up in Community Park at Van Kampen Stage (1800 Short St.) for our annual Creature Double Feature. This family event will start with Beetlejuice (1988, PG) at 7pm, followed by Ghostbusters (1984, PG) at 8:30pm. Families can register to reserve a $10, 10X10 square on the hill, with each square holding 6 people. Registration is required and spot are limited, you may only register for a max of 2 spots. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy these classic Halloween favorites on the big screen on the museum lawn.
Saturday, October 10, Lisle Park District and Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation will host the 16th annual nighttime 5K run/walk, The Scarecrow Scramble, in Community Park (1800 Short St., Lisle). The event will follow state regulated social distancing guidelines, including splitting the race into time slots, with runners spaced 30 minutes apart. There is also a virtual race options for those wishing to run in their own neighborhood. Registration ends on October 7, head to scarecrowscramble.com to learn more.
For more festive, family fun, stop by the Lisle Recreation Center (1925 Ohio St., Lisle) on Saturday, October 24 for Monster Madness. This autumn fair is perfect for ages 3-10, and will feature games, bingo, a caution tape maze, and more. Registration is required and families can register each child for a time slot (12-2pm, 2:30-4:30pm, or 5-7pm), as the number of children per time slot is limited. Don’t forget to wear your Halloween costume! Registration is $15 per child, and all those attending are asked to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing. Register by October 17.
The Lisle Park District provides a variety of leisure activities for people of all ages throughout the year.
