Summer Outdoor Fun 2015

The rains are over (for now) so it’s time to get outside and take advantage of the sunshine. Here are some of our favorite outdoor activities for the summer.

Blackberry Farm’s Pioneer Village

Aurora. A living history museum where pioneer life is re-created. Admission includes unlimited rides on the train, hay wagon, pedal tractors, paddleboats, carousel and ponies.

 

Cosley Zoo

Wheaton. Nestled on 5 acres, Cosley Zoo is home to farm animals and native Illinois wildlife. Visit the 20 exhibits with over 150 animals.

 

Lambs Farm

Libertyville. This unique attraction offers a petting zoo, mini-golf, carousel, train ride, bounce house country store and café, all with a mission of serving people with developmental disabilities.

 

Navy Pier

Chicago. In addition to the Ferris wheel, Navy Pier has an outdoor play area with whirly-ride, etc. Don’t miss Shakespeare in the Park on July 17 & 18.

 

Pirates’ Cove Children’s Theme Park

Elk Grove Village. Attractions include an 18th Century Pirate Ship, an old fashioned carousel, paddle boats, train rides, climbing wall, fun slide and bounce house. Every Friday is a special event from 10am-2pm.

 

Santa’s Village AZoosment Park

East Dundee. Kiddie and family thrill rides, a barn and petting zoo, domestic and exotic animals, live shows, games, shop and restaurants.

 

Schaumburg Boomers Professional Baseball

Schaumburg. With free parking and the ability for EVERYONE to run the bases at every baseball game, the Schaumburg Boomers are the perfect summer fun destination for the whole family.
