Do you remember your summers as a kid? The summers of my youth were perfect: Perfect weather with 80 degree temps and sunny blue skies, perfect days spent lounging at the pool, playing sports and trying new hobbies, perfect friends to laugh and share with. That’s what I remember.
Of course, as a mom, I know that my summers – and those of my kids – also had rainy days with cancelled classes, boring car rides, arguing siblings and disappointing friends. But that’s the reality of life, and our hope as parents is that the character-building experiences are overshadowed and that our kids mostly remember the fun, joyful times of summer.
