DuPage Children’s Museum Damaged by Flooding

We just learned about the extensive damage to the DuPage Children’s Museum due to last week’s flooding. We are heartbroken and know that everyone familiar with this great facility is too. For now, the Museum will be closed through February 8, 2015. We will keep you posted as have more information.

Here’s a message from Dana Davenport, who is on the Museum’s Next Gen Board. If you have the opportunity to help, here’s a link to their donation page.

My name is Dana, and I am a mom to two amazing kids, ages 5 and 3.  We are all passionate and emotionally attached to DuPage Children’s Museum.  I am also honored to serve on their Next Gen Board. Unfortunately, I am writing to you today with a heavy heart.

Last week at the Museum, a pipe burst on the second floor, causing significant water damage to all three floors. The water damage has impacted the flooring, ceiling, walls, artwork, exhibits, and more. This flooding is heartbreaking for our community and the children the Museum serves. The impact of the flood is extensive. Professionals are onsite and staff is partnering with them to start fixing everything.

As you can imagine, this situation has been devastating for the Museum, its staff, members, and especially the children, particularly when we have recently experienced frigid temperatures and school closings. As a parent with a passion for all children, I believe in the Museum’s mission and how that mission manifests into wonderful and exciting exhibits and play through learning that my kids love to experience.

We have appreciated your past support of the Museum, and we need your support now more than ever. Please join me in supporting DCM with a generous donation so that the Museum can reopen even stronger than it was before.
